News from the FORCE - March 27, 2020

Welcome To Our School Blog!
Message From Our FORCE Staff
March 27, 2020

Happy Friday FORCE Families!

We hope that you, your loved ones, and everyone close to you is healthy, safe, and learning to make the best of what this new sense of "normal for now" is throwing at all of us.  Our entire staff has been in contact with each other for the past 2 weeks, and besides planning for what's to come, the main theme throughout is how much we truly miss our students, their laughter, and their joy of learning!  Many teachers have already begun to connect with their students online via virtual meetings or through email, and keeping us connected through all of this is vital!  We truly miss our close bond with our amazing families as well, and the wonderful routine of rapport we had with this community.

As you most likely already know if you got the communication from Superintendent Garcia, is that the school closure will be extended at least through May 1st, with a hopeful start date of May 4th to finish out the school year on campus and get back to a sense of normalcy before summer break!  As mentioned before, our entire staff has been working diligently to prepare for distance learning should the closure go past Spring Break, and now that we know that it is, we are ready to rock and roll and make the experience as awesome as possible for our students and families!  We are also planning for the contingency that the closure could possibly extend all the way to the end of the school year, as we cross our fingers that it doesn't.  Our teachers have all set up Google Classrooms and have been working their tails off to create lessons and plans to deliver them to students in an organized and connected matter with a mix of of all things digital and virtual.

If you haven't gotten an invitation from a teacher to sign up for their google classroom, they should be sending something out to you early next week.  We also have a plan in place for deployment of chromebooks for those who need it, as well as getting your child's classroom curriculum materials from their desks, back into their hands to use at home as we move forward - more info on that as you scroll down in the blog.

Please remember, that we are all in this together and we will help guide and support you and your children through this unprecedented and unique way of learning.  We hope to see many of our families giving their teachers and support staff a friendly hello from their driveway or sidewalk on Monday as we connect with you via our Fiddy Drive By Parade - Check out more info below!

As always, we want to thank our community of parents and guardians for supporting Fiddyment Farm Elementary School, our students, and our staff!  Stay healthy, stay safe, and take care!

Have a wonderful weekend and week ahead!

Check out the latest updates on school closure, continuous learning, and support from the Roseville City School District

(Message from Superintendent Garcia sent this week)
To Our Parents, Children, and Staff
Thank you for your trust and patience as we work together to navigate this ever-changing situation in our nation.

Schools in the Roseville City School District will remain closed through May 1, 2020, t
o slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community. This is a unified decision made in consultation with the Placer County Health Officer and the Placer County Office of Education. We hope to have students return to our schools on May 4, 2020.  However, teachers and parents must plan for the genuine possibility that schools remain closed through the end of the school year.

Continuous learning for all students will begin on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.  You will receive a communication from your principal on Monday, March 30, to schedule an instructional materials pickup from your child's school before Spring Break.  Additionally, if you require a device to access online lessons and materials, please click on the RCSD Technology Deployment link for dates, times, locations, and the Student Mobile Device Loaner Agreement.  The loaner devices are for those students who have no other means to access online lessons and content.  Meal service will continue as planned for March 30 - April 3.  Please click on the Parent Resources tab located at the top right corner of the RCSD Continuous Learning website for additional information related to school closures.

As our district community navigates this difficult time, we must continue to follow the "shelter-in-place" order issued by Governor Newsom and stay home except for essential activities.

We all want children back in school and for our communities to return to normalcy as soon as possible. But not at the risk of their health and safety. Information is changing rapidly, and we will continue to update our website regularly, so make sure to bookmark rcsdk8.org and RCSD Continuous Learning for the most up-to-date information and resources.

I greatly appreciate your patience and hope you and your family stay safe and healthy.

    Respectfully,
    Derk
    Derk Garcia, Superintendent

Now that we know our school closure will be extended beyond Spring Break, we need to get school supplies in the hands of our students so they can truly sink their teeth into their continuous learning!

Mr. Poulsen sent out an email regarding Chromebook Loan Program Deployment for those students who need one or families who need more than one.  Just a reminder that this will be:

Chromebook Pickup - ONLY for those in need:

    TUESDAY - March 31st - 8:00am - 4:00pm window @ ORCHARD RANCH!

We also know that students need the materials they left in their desks and the items that teachers want them to have moving forward.  We have a plan in place to get student materials to them, that will take place next week:

    Student Material Pickup

WEDNESDAY (April 1), THURSDAY (April 2), FRIDAY (April 3)

This will be split up by last name and chunked up throughout the 3 days to ease congestion.

A more detailed message regarding supply pickup and an exact schedule of pickup times for families will be coming on:
MONDAY - March 30th! - Check your email!!!!
