Happy Friday Fiddyment Families,

What an 2nd full week of school we have had here at The Farm!  The air has been clear and the temperature much more cool, and the kids are loving it!  Pushing through those beginning of the year assessments and learning new procedures in class and around campus, the students are enjoying settling in with new friends, and stronger bonds with teachers and staff!  Locked in times for PE, Music, Library give the students a great mix of learning, and we are all getting prepped for art docents and upcoming PTC events! Speaking of PTC events, what a wonderful Star Wars themed Skate Night we just had - the students had a blast skating and got to enjoy the show of Mr. Poulsen taking a pie to the face for a great cause!!

We hope you check back here at this blog weekly for important news on school events, upcoming dates of importance, reminders of school procedures, and flyers from our RCSD community that help to enrich the lives of our students and families!

Digital Citizenship & Digital Literacy
at Fiddyment Farm
Starting this year, every RCSD student, Kindergarten through 8th grade will receive five lessons every year regarding Digital Citizenship.  It is important for our students to learn how to be safe and responsible with online tools.

There are also now clear expectations of what every student should learn in regards to Digital Literacy.  Digital Literacy refers to what students should be learning when it comes to creating and communicating with technology.

You can learn more about the Digital Citizenship lessons and Digital Literacy expectations by exploring RCSD's Digital Literacy Site - HERE!

Drop Off & Pick Up Reminders
We know the beginning of the school year can be chaotic, and not many things are as chaotic as remembering the rules and procedures of drop off and pick up at school!

Here are a few things to remember, that will help to make your sanity last longer and to save your precious time and the precious time of others, who are all in the same boat as you are!

1. SAFETY FIRST - Above all else, please remember that this is a school and there are constantly students all around the area - please drive slowly and cautiously!!!

2. BE PUNCTUAL - Please allow yourself enough time to drop off and pick up at the appropriate times - REMEMBER, there is NO SUPERVISION for students before 8:35am in the morning and after 3:25pm in the afternoon - if you want your students to stay safe and be supervised, don't drop them off early, and don't leave them waiting for too long after school.

3. COMMON COURTESY - Please remember the GOLDEN RULE - "Treat others how you want to be treated" - you would not like it if someone parked in the loop and got out of their vehicle, which holds up the entire line of traffic flow - so please don't do it - if you need to get out of your vehicle to get your student - please PARK IN THE LOT and then walk to your student.  Also, please PULL ALL THE WAY UP - the more cars we get to pull up, the less traffic has to stick out and wait on Brick Mason to pull in, blocking traffic flow!  And above all else, PLEASE BE KIND to others - especially our hard working teachers who are out there trying to make sure everyone is staying safe and following rules - please show them some respect by being safe and following the rules!

Hello Fiddyment Farm Families ,

We here at The Farm hope that your first full week of school for your children was an awesome one!  Our staff's excitement for starting the new school year was accelerated with such an outstanding week - from our first Early Release Day, where teachers get extra time to collaborate and plan what's ahead for their students, to our Recess Rodeo and new PBIS Expectations, to keep our students safe and responsible for their choices.  And the week culminated with a wonderful turnout at Back To School Night, topped off with our first School SING event Friday morning where the whole school came together to celebrate, dance, and sing the start of what will be a phenomenal 2018/2019 school year!

We hope you check back here at this blog weekly for important news on school events, upcoming dates of importance, reminders of school procedures, and flyers from our RCSD community that help to enrich the lives of our students and families!
