News From the FORCE - November 16, 2020

Welcome To Our School Blog!
Message From Our FORCE Staff
November 16, 2020

Happy Monday FORCE Families!

We have made it through Week 2 of our 5 day modified schedule, and for the most part, knock on wood, things are going smoothly at The Farm. Staff has been amazing at helping students understand and behave with new expectations around safety and a new way of learning in the classroom.  Our families have also been super amazing and supportive during this time as well, being on time and following all drop off and pick up procedures has made the process very safe and smooth for all.  We hope all of you feel that your child's return to live, in person instruction has been successful and rewarding for them.  The biggest reward for us is seeing students on campus get to learn from in person teachers, interact with friends, even if from a distance, and just find a small sense of normalcy in these ever changing times.

At the same time, we hope all of our students and families that have remained online with distance learning in our Champions Academy are continuing to do well.  We are confident our staff is giving them the best possible experience learning from a distance.

As we start this week, here are a few reminders for parents:

1. If your child complains about being ill or shows symptoms of illness while at school, they will most likely be sent home.  When this happens, our district nursing staff will then reach out to the family and inquire about the student, documenting symptoms, and giving a timeline for that student to return to school.  This could be the next day, or staying out for a longer period - it all depends on the symptoms and possible COVID-19 risk/exposure.  PLEASE NOTE - Fiddyment Farm is bound to the directive of the district office nurse's COVID team and cannot overturn their plan for students to return to school.  We appreciate your patience if one of your children become ill and have to stay away from school for a period of time, as we CANNOT let students return unless they are cleared by the nursing team.  If you have a child out for a period longer than a day or two, your child will be offered school work to stay up to speed on classroom learning.

2. Please do a proper health check of your children BEFORE they come to school - take their temp, ask about queasy tummies and headaches, check for runny and stuffy noses, and listen for coughs.  And if your child has symptoms of being sick for any reason, please keep them home until they feel better - they can always catch up on the work, but getting others sick could lead to bad outcomes down the road!

2.  Please make sure your child does NOT leave the house without a face covering, especially if they are in grades 3-5, where it is mandatory.  Even though it is not mandatory in TK-2, it is strongly recommended for students to wear a mask or face shield to keep themselves and others as safe as possible.   So far EVERYONE has been doing AWESOME with this!

3. Please remember our new attendance procedure - if your child is staying home from school, you no longer need to call - just fill out the quick Google Form - LINK HERE!

As always, we want to thank our community of parents and guardians for supporting Fiddyment Farm Elementary School, our students, and our staff!  Stay healthy, stay safe, and take care!

Have a wonderful weekend and remember to always - "BE A FORCE FOR GOOD"

    ATTENTION
    CHAMPIONS ACADEMY
    Students and Families!

This Thursday - NOVEMBER 19th, our next Materials Distribution and Collection for our Champions Academy students will be taking place!

Table with materials will be outside the front gate
    Thursday - Nov. 19 - 3pm -6pm

Here are the guidelines for parents:

    • When waiting to access the table to find your child's materials, please remember to social distance and stay 6ft apart from one another and please wear a face covering while waiting - thank you!
    • We ask that if possible, you PLEASE do not bring children with you, unless you have no other option.
Any questions for clarification around Materials Deployment/Collection, please reach out to your child's teacher and we will do our best to support!

To keep our students and families safe, we have decided to keep all lost and left behind items that can't be identified by student name, in quarantine in our MPR for one week.  Once the week is up, we feel that the items would then be safe to set out in front of the MPR the following week.

We will keep those items out on the rack for one week, that gives students and families time to look through the rack - and at the end of that week, we will then rotate new items that have been in quarantine.

To help mediate lost and found, teachers and staff are giving constant reminders to students to remember to grab jackets/sweatshirts/water bottles from the playground when they go out!

Look for the first lost and found items to be placed out on the rack after Fall Break!

Thank you for your patience and understanding!

    Hello Fiddyment Farm Champions Academy!

Some important items to note while using our new online catalog:

    1. You can select up to 2 books to put on hold at a time. After 2, it will not let you hold anymore.

    2. Only ONE graphic novel per student.

    3. You cannot "unhold" a book after it's been selected. The program does not allow you to do this, so please make your selection(s) carefully.

    4. Once you place your books on hold, Mrs. Enos will pull your selections off the shelf, check them out to you and leave them on your teacher’s table during materials pickup.

    5. Books must be placed on hold by 12 p.m. Thursday to guarantee they will be ready for pick up that same week.

    6. When you are done with your books, please return them to the library cart during the next Materials Distribution times. Please be sure to put new books on hold if you'd like to pick up new books while returning your old ones.

    7. Books will be quarantined for 7 days once they are returned, before being checked out to other students.  Please note that returned books will remain on your account while they are quarantined.  You can still check out other new books.

    8. Books can be checked out for a 3-week maximum.

    9. You are responsible for the safety of your books while you have them.  If a book is damaged, you are responsible for the replacement cost.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Enos at: renos@rcsdk8.org.  We thank you in advance for your patience while we transition to this new online process for our library, and hope it offers students a fun resource to explore new books!

    Happy Reading!
